A New Look

I am delighted to introduce to you our new brand identity here at Gordon Moody. Our purpose in re-designing our brand was to engage better with those for who we are here to help, those affected by gambling harms.

Those familiar with our organisation will notice that we have dropped the “Association” from our title and from now on we’ll be known as Gordon Moody. Our new moniker is accompanied by a new logo. Our “sunburst” design brings warm vibrant colours to our brand, along with a sense of hope and optimism “today will be a better day”. Our new brand identity was designed by Nigel at Visible Futures.

Within the logo you will see 12 roof-like shapes surrounding the circle, these shapes represent houses that elude to our residential treatment centres highlighting our therapeutic style of group therapy and peer support.

The Same Feel – But Better.

Recalling the work of our founder, the Reverend Gordon Moody over 50 years ago we looked at our purpose, our vision and our mission.

Our purpose is to help people reclaim and rebuild their lives free of gambling addiction. Having the courage to reach out for support and participate in treatment is a huge step to make in terms of reclaiming your life. During treatment and afterwards into recovery through our post-treatment services we give people the support they need to rebuild parts of their life that addiction has taken from them. It can be a long road to recovery but Gordon Moody is there every step of the way.

Our vision is to be the UK’s benchmark for successfully treating people with the most severe gambling addictions. There are numerous treatment providers in the UK doing great work in supporting those in need of help with gambling-related issues, but as Reverend Gordon Moody found out in the 1960s when he introduced Gamblers anonymous to the UK, there was a percentage of people that needed greater support and so Gordon House was opened. This still rings true today and Gordon Moody provides specialist treatment for those who have reached crisis point, who feel they have nowhere else to turn.

Our mission, and how we will achieve our vision is by tackling gambling addiction together.

Together – with the client throughout the customer journey.

Together – with those with lived experience creating a peer-supported environment.

Together – with affected others through our Family and Friends support groups for those with loved ones in our care.

Together – with local communities raising awareness of gambling-related issues.

Together – with public health bodies and other care professionals to provide more comprehensive support.

Together – with research bodies to advance the effective treatment and understanding of gambling addiction.

Together – with the industry to raise standards and create a safer environment for gamblers.

All Together Now

To accompany our new branding, we have created our new website. The impact of Covid-19 brought home to us early on the need to be very visible online for those who needed urgent help with gambling addiction. It also showed that information needs to be as clear and as accessible as possible. Another learning from the past year is that the number of people who need the specialist help that Gordon Moody provides – both online and in a physical setting – is far greater than many were accounting for our new website allows us to reach, engage and treat more people experiencing gambling harm.

Long term, we want Gordon Moody to be well placed to tackle the long shadow of Covid and to give the best service we can, with the resources we have, to make a significant impact in tackling gambling-related harm. This is the start of a new journey for us and the people who need us in providing more treatment to help people reclaim and rebuild their lives. We don’t see this as solely about refreshing a brand or building a new website. For us, tacking gambling addiction together is something we all have a part to play in and it will need to be done together in as many ways as possible. We feel that these changes allow us to put our best foot forward within the charity and gambling sectors, raising the profile of gambling harms, treatment and the services our specialists offer here at Gordon Moody.

Best wishes,

Matthew Hickey,

CEO Gordon Moody
