2021 Reflection
First of all, what an excellent year 2021 was. We have seen so many wonderful people coming through our doors and changing their lives for the better. We have seen a pilot for the four-week residential programme for women, showing how much needed this type of programme is. The Gordon Moody team has shown such agility to adapt to a quick and continuously changing landscape of both service users needs and environmental uncertainty.
Stepping Into 2022
Moving into 2022, we want to continue the great work we are doing in the two men’s residential programmes treating gambling addiction and move the women’s residential gambling addiction treatment programme into its permanent home in Wolverhampton. Moreover, in the first half of the year, we will also open a new nine-bed men’s residential treatment service, also in Wolverhampton.
Very early in the new year, we will see the start of the Residential Complex Cases programme, through which, in collaboration with our partners at Adferiad Recovery, we will be delivering residential treatment to people who, alongside gambling-related harm, are affected by complex substance misuse or mental health co-morbidities.
Our Retreat and Counselling programme has been back to face to face in the second part of 2021. The demand for this innovative hybrid model of care is constantly growing. This is why we will double our offer from next year and deliver eight treatment cohorts throughout the year.
More than anything, 2022 will be a year for collaboration. A year in which we will strengthen our relationship with existing partners in the NGTS or D&A charity sector and build new partnerships with a wide range of addiction, mental health and social care providers, and local authorities and statutory services.
I am looking forward to the exciting opportunities to co-design and co-deliver innovative services together with lived experience lead organisations such as WhysUp and EPIC Restart Foundation. It will definitely be a year in which EbE involvement will play a central role in achieving our purpose to help people reclaim and rebuild their lives free from gambling addiction.
Where do I hope Gordon Moody will be by the end of the year? At the heart of successfully treating people with the most service gambling addiction across the UK. Able to meet the demand for support, engage with a wide diversity of communities, and continually improve the quality of our services.
